Gristmill fencers dominated the two spring tournaments at R.P.I. taking first place at the 2013 Frank Collins Team Tournament in foil. Team members included Rory Siy, Nicholas Phan, Alex Hutchins, and Nicholas Schell. On April 13, Rory Siy won the RPI Spring Open earning his USFA B rating. Nicholas Phan took second place in the event. Nicholas Phan took first place in the C and Under Senior Men’s Foil event held at Vassar College on April 21, the qualifying event for the Division 2/3 event at the Summer National Tournament. Nicholas Schell took third place in the men’s foil event at the Woodstock Open. Earlier in the season Siy won first place at the Hudson Berkshire Junior Olympic Qualifier for the Junior Foil Event. He finished in the top third at the Junior Olympic Tournament in Baltimore. Nicholas Phan won the Hudson Berkshire Junior Olympic Qualifier for the Cadet Foil Event. Analise Peleggi, a Cornell University graduate and captain of the women’s fencing team at Cornell, will continue her studies at Albany Medical College. Sasha Siy, is graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in June 2013 with a bachelors degree in physics. Sasha was captain of the men’s foil team at MIT, and will continue his studies at Northeastern University in engineering. Sasha’s brother, Rory Siy, was recruited by several colleges and will fence for the Boston College Eagles in the fall
